Fire in Progress

About

Hi, I’m Miss FIRE.

I am half way through FIRE. I’m not financially independent yet — and that’s exactly the point of sharing this journey with you.

I’m somewhere in the middle: I am in my forties, still working a full-time corporate job, still making decisions in real time, and still living on a frugal budget while optimizing as life inevitably happens.

I didn’t start early. Everything I know is self-taught — through blogs, YouTube channels, and books on the topic. I work a corporate job in Europe and have been an expat for almost a decade, currently living in a country that isn’t the one I grew up in. My day job pays the bills; my personal financial strategies are what I’m building for freedom.

I build complex spreadsheets as a hobby: mortgage amortization schedules, 20-year leverage vs. ETF models, scenario after scenario until the numbers make sense — not just financially, but psychologically. It’s always a balance between maximizing returns and reducing risk. In this era of layoffs, I lean more toward the latter. If something happens, I want to know I can cover my expenses.

Like I said, I started late. I live frugally — but I still live. That means I budget for travel and for my spare time activities.

This blog is where I share the process as it happens — not just the wins, but the recalculations, the trade-offs, and the doubts. No perfect formulas, just real decisions.

If you’re also somewhere in the middle or you have to start, you’re in the right place.

Much love,
Miss FIRE
